Information for German Referendars and Lawyers

A Referendar is a German trainee lawyer receiving practical training in judicial and other legal work, having completed at least five years of formal legal studies at university and having passed the first of two state examinations for admission to the legal profession (as a judge, lawyer, district attorney, etc.).

If you are a German Referendar and interested in joining our law firm for a few months, we advise you to submit your application to us as early as possible to allow sufficient lead time for you to apply for and obtain the necessary Canadian work visa. Click  here for further information.

We also welcome applications from fully qualified German lawyers interested in joining our firm. If you are highly motivated and skilled, fluent in English and, ideally, have some experience, preferably in Family, Estates, Commercial or Tax law, we would be delighted to hear from you. Foreign-trained lawyers with three or more years of experience may be eligible for admission into the Law Society of Upper Canada as Foreign Legal Consultants.
